Ethênë-tizè Bî (/eˈθɘnë/ /ˈtizè/ [relevant] [research]) is a subtropical Town located in the Rëfiithe Zone of the Union of Engineers.
The name Ethênë-tizè Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Ethênë-tizè Bî was founded by Paz Glèbm, who was culturaly Iron Elven.
Climate
Ethênë-tizè Bî has a yearly average temperature of 22°C (71°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 20°C (68°F). Ethênë-tizè Bî receives an average of 205 cm/y (80 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Ethênë-tizè Bî covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 5842 m (19166 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Ethênë-tizè Bî was founded durring the early 14th century in fall of the year 1301, by Paz Glèbm. The establishment of Ethênë-tizè Bî was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Paz Glèbm electing to pay people to resettle in Ethênë-tizè Bî.
Ethênë-tizè Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Ethênë-tizè Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.
Ethênë-tizè Bî is buildings are arranged within a network of broad packed earth streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. The town's failry decent fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.
Ethênë-tizè Bî has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Ethênë-tizè Bî ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Even with that as it is, everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or much of both. The town should be gone, not dying. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable.
Civic Infrastructure
Ethênë-tizè Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Ethênë-tizè Bî.
Ethênë-tizè Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Ethênë-tizè Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Ethênë-tizè Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Ethênë-tizè Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Ethênë-tizè Bî possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.
Ethênë-tizè Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.
Ethênë-tizè Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
Ethênë-tizè Bî's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for the combined use of arcuated and trabeated construction, employing arches and constructed with post and lintel. The arch served as the style's chief structural element, with flanking columns serving as buttresses or decorations. While the general shape of their structures could be generously described as simplistic, the use of these arches and columns created a most distinct ascetic which is easily distinguishable on sight to armatures and experts alike.
In Ethênë-tizè Bî snow is warm to the touch and does not melt within city limits. Also it only happens during summer.
The Gremlin near Ethênë-tizè Bî are known to be quite timid.
Ethênë-tizè Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves creating small tokens to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 2 via recitation of poetic epics.
